Rear Admiral Rosayro specialized in communication from signal school in Cochin, India in 1991 and also graduated from Defence Services Staff College Wellington India in the year 2001. He also possesses a MSc in strategic and Defence studies obtained from the University of Madras India. Officer also completed his National Security and War course at National Defence University in Pakistan in 2013.

Since 1985 the officer had actively participated in sea and land operations. In recognition of his distinguished service he has been awarded with Rana Soora Padakkama for act of Gallantry, Poorna bhumi Padakkama, Sri Lanka Armed Service Long Service Medal, North and East Operations Medal,  Riviresa Campaign Service Medal, 50th Independence Anniversary Commemoration Medal, Sri Lanka Navy 50th Anniversary Medal, Uththama 


HOW IT BECAME 'BANDARANAYAKE'

In 1918, this school established as Henarathgoda Seewali Buddhist School at the place where Yasodara Devi Balika Maha Vidyalaya located at present.

Charles Samarasooriya was the first principal of the school. In 1949, the school transformed as Henarathgoda Senior Secondary School and then it was established as the Henarathgoda Secondary English School at present location.

When school was established at the current location, Jinadasa Munasinghe was the principal.

In 1923 this school was promoted as a First Grade School.

It had been a mixed school up to 1980s. On 25 May 1993, the school was advanced to the national level as, Gampaha Bandaranayake College.

The media Unit of Gampaha Bandaranayake College is in their 80th victorious Year which was found in 1936 as ‘School News Unit’.We made a fresh step by starting a Press Forum in 1943.
We are proud to say that Bandaranayake Media Unit started the first ever School Radio Broadcast named ‘Siyanesara’ on the day of school’s 75th Anniversary in 17th September 1993. Specialty of that is the every transmissible devices were made by our Old Boys. In 2008 we started the Media Day named ‘Abhiyoga’. Now it is passing on with a Tri-Language Media Workshop.
